Summer is the season where many people get to enjoy the warm weather after a cold season. However, during the winter, homeowners are concerned about potentially frozen pipes, many forget that the plumbing system can also experience issues during the summer. It is the season to expect guests, and a malfunctioning plumbing system can be a great inconvenience and potential hazard. To effectively head off issues before they spiral, it is prudent to understand some that you need to watch out for. Accordingly, here are some problems you may encounter:

Damaged Sprinklers

Sprinklers are used to water yards and flower gardens in most homes. During the summer, sprinklers are in high demand compared to other seasons, with added uses such as helping kids and pets to cool off while playing outside. So, before turning on the sprinklers, it is important to ensure it is in good condition to ensure they don't have any subtle or overt problems. If not addressed, a damaged sprinkler can result in water wastage and can cause flooding in the yard, damaging it. Therefore, it is best to inspect your sprinklers and if there are any issues, consult a plumber to fix them before use.

Leaky Outdoor Faucets

A leaking faucet can be identified relatively easily and is usually caused by the wear and tear of some components in the tap, loose or broken parts, etc. Accordingly, immediate inspection is advisable, followed by repair or replacement as required. Prompt intervention is important because leaking faucets add to your water bills and, in severe cases, may worsen, causing flooding and water and structural damage. So if you have a leaky faucet, call a plumber to address the root of the problem.

Blocked Drain System

Summer is a season during which hosting, cooking, grilling, and feasting are enjoyed. This can result in people disposing of garbage incorrectly, e.g., in the drainage system. To avoid blocking the drains, direct your guests on where to dispose of trash, and have trash cans conveniently positioned to help prevent clogging. Regardless of the cause of the blocked drainage, it is important to call a plumber to clear the system and ensure optimal functioning.

Clogged Shower Drains

Showers can clog due to dirt, sand, hair, debris, etc., that don't flow effectively down the drains. Therefore, to help avoid clogging problems, ensure that people use the outdoor shower to spray the debris off after playing at the beach or similar outdoor areas. In addition, it is important to examine the drains regularly and ensure they're clear. These inspections prevent the buildup of residuals that can cause clogging by addressing any issues before there's an accumulation.

The above are some summer issues you may encounter with your plumbing. While it may be possible to troubleshoot some problems in an emergency, you need the intervention of a competent plumber to ensure resolution and help prevent re-occurrence.
